The 2026 JUPEB examination marks a significant milestone in the history of the Joint Universities Preliminary Examinations Board. For the first time, the Multiple Choice (MCQ) papers are being conducted as Computer-Based Tests (CBT), replacing the traditional paper-based objective examinations. The 2026 examination timetable also separates the MCQ/CBT papers from the Theory papers, with CBT examinations taking place during the first week and Theory papers scheduled for the following week.
When this transition was first announced in 2025, FreshNote immediately began preparing for the future. We redesigned our JUPEB website and mobile application to provide a CBT practice environment, ensuring that our users would not be caught unprepared when the new examination format became a reality.
At the time, however, there was limited information about the actual examination process. While we knew the examination would be computer-based, details such as the interface, examination environment, security procedures, and candidate experience were still unknown.
Our Visit to the Examination Centres
On 3 August 2026, members of the FreshNote team visited two JUPEB examination centres to observe the ongoing CBT examinations firsthand. The purpose of this visit was to understand how the examination is conducted and identify ways to make our CBT platform even more realistic.
Among our observations were the following:
- Candidates answered 50 multiple-choice questions within a specified time limit just like JAMB.
- MCQ examinations for all departments are being conducted this week, while Theory papers will commence next week.
- The examination maintains the same high level of discipline and security that JUPEB has always been known for.
- Security personnel were present at every examination centre we visited.
- Once the examination commenced, lecturers and students were not permitted around the examination hall.
- The examinations were monitored remotely by JUPEB officials through CCTV surveillance, providing an additional layer of examination integrity.
These observations confirm that although the examination has transitioned to CBT, JUPEB has maintained its strict standards for fairness, security, and credibility.
How FreshNote Is Welcoming This New Development

We are expanding our JUPEB question database by adding more mock examinations alongside official past questions, giving students a wider range of practice materials in one place.
Latest 2026 Past Questions
Immediately after the conclusion of the ongoing JUPEB examination, FreshNote will begin updating its database with the latest 2026 past questions. This will ensure that future candidates prepare with the most recent examination patterns and question styles.
