UYO, AKWA IBOM STATE — The University of Uyo (UNIUYO) will observe a two-week break for Christmas and New Year festivities beginning Monday, December 22, the institution announced this week.
All lectures, examinations, and campus activities across the university's faculties will be suspended during the holiday period. Normal academic operations are scheduled to resume in January 2026.
The break aligns with the university's annual calendar and provides students and faculty members time to observe the festive season with their families.
University officials have advised students to use the recess period productively—completing any pending assignments and preparing for the resumption of classes in the new year.
The announcement comes as educational institutions across Nigeria wind down activities for the year-end holidays. Students are expected to vacate campus facilities by December 21, with return dates to be communicated through official channels.
