LASU Professor Appointed Acting Vice Chancellor of University of Uyo
Lagos State University (LASU) has announced that one of its distinguished academics, Professor Samuel Gbadebo Odewunmi, has been appointed Acting Vice Chancellor of the University of Uyo in Akwa Ibom State.
Professor Odewunmi, a specialist in Transport Planning and Policy, previously served as Dean of the School of Transport and Logistics at LASU.
His appointment was formalized in a letter dated December 15, 2025, from Mrs Blossom E. Okorie, Registrar and Secretary to Council at the University of Uyo. The letter confirmed that the appointment was approved by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and communicated through the Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa, CON.
The appointment is effective immediately and will remain in place until a permanent Vice Chancellor is selected.
LASU Vice Chancellor, Professor Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM, congratulated Professor Odewunmi on the appointment. She praised his academic achievements, administrative capabilities, and scholarly contributions, expressing confidence that his experience will benefit the University of Uyo's development and stability.
