How many years is the JUPEB program, really?
So, you've heard about JUPEB and you're wondering how long this whole thing actually takes. Let's get straight to it: the program is just one academic session. That means you can go from your post-secondary studies to the 200-level of university in about 9 to 12 months. It's a pretty intense but efficient path to getting your university degree faster. It like moving from your ss3 straight to year two in the university without even having to write JAMB.

What does that academic session actually look like?
The year is broken down into two intensive semesters, but it's not like your average school year. There’s a lot to cover, and you'll be diving deep into the syllabus. In short, you are to read and master your three years secondary school works in nine months.
So everything your SS1-SS3 teachers taught you in three years, Jupeb will force you to study them within a very short time with four different lecturers handling the same subject. Though some schools may not have enough Lecturers, therefore, it can be one subject (course) per lecturer. But for institutions like Imeh Umana campus Abak (Uniuyo) it's very certain that four different lecturers will teach you the same subject.
Semester 1: Classes typically kick off around September or October. For the next few months, your life will revolve around, registration processes lectures, tests, and assignments, I have not forgotten to mention the stress involved thereof. Think of it as laying the groundwork for everything that follows.
What to expect in second semester
Semester 2: After a short break, you'll dive right back into the books, usually in February. But my experience in university of uyo wasn't that palatable because we closed first semester like today being Friday and resumed on Monday. That was because we started late, even as at December the school was still admitting new students. With this, I can boldly say that jupeb admission in university of uyo do last till December. Talking about semester two, this is where things get serious, with more advanced topics and preparations for the final examination, CT2, second Semester exams, mock and the final exam all packed into the short interval and you're to read and pass if you mean moving in your desire direction.
How is the JUPEB exam
Final Examinations: The national JUPEB exams take place around August, mostly within the first week. It's the culmination of all your hard work, and your score will determine your next step into university. Your internal exams: CT1 and CT2, first and second semester exams Carry 10% and your class attendance carries 5%. Then, the main exam carries 85% per course.

A quick note on the academic session vs. the calendar year
It’s easy to get confused, but a JUPEB academic session doesn’t neatly fit into a single January-to-December calendar year. The intensive, condensed timeline means you complete your advanced-level coursework and jump to the 200-level sooner. This is a huge benefit for anyone who doesn’t want to spend an extra year in the 100-level, especially if you're not a fan of the traditional university route.

Get your certificate: Once your results are out (a few months after the exam), you get your JUPEB certificate. One of the best things about it is that, unlike the UTME result, it doesn’t expire.
Apply for Direct Entry: With your certificate in hand, you can then apply for Direct Entry admission into the 200-level of a JUPEB-affiliated university, using a JAMB DE form. It's your ticket to skipping JAMB and the first year and getting on with your degree.
