The University of Uyo (UNIUYO) has opened its admission portal for the one-year Basic Studies Programme run in collaboration with the Joint Universities Preliminary Examination Board (JUPEB), inviting applications for the 2026/2027 academic session.
The programme offers candidates a route into 200 level through Direct Entry, provided they pass the JUPEB examinations and meet the entry requirements for their chosen course. A JAMB score is not required to apply, and prospective 2026 UTME candidates are also eligible, as no supplementary application window will be opened afterward.
Admission Requirements
Applicants must have a minimum of five credit passes — including English Language and Mathematics, plus three other subjects relevant to their intended course — obtained from SSCE/WASCE, GCE O/Level, NECO, or NABTEB. Results from no more than two sittings will be accepted. Admission into the programme is determined through a Computer-Based Test (CBT) screening exercise.

The Basic Studies/JUPEB application form costs ₦15,500, payable online and non-refundable.

How to Apply
- Visit the UNIUYO admissions portal and select "Apply Now," then "Create Account" if registering for the first time.
- Verify the email address used for registration.
- Log in, go to the Application Fee section, select "Basic Studies," and generate a Remita Retrieval Reference (RRR) for payment.
- Pay online or at a bank, then return to the portal to confirm payment.
- Go to the Application Form section, click "Start New Application," fill in all details, and upload the required documents.
- Submit the form and print the screening slip.
Candidates are advised to use the same passport photograph for both the online registration and the screening exercise, as no complaints regarding incorrect biodata or blank photographs will be entertained after submission. Applicants who upload incorrect biodata will be automatically disqualified.
Available Courses
The programme covers courses across virtually all faculties at the university, including Agriculture, Arts, Engineering, Law, Medicine and Surgery, Pharmacy, Computing, Management Sciences, and the Social Sciences, among others. Candidates who pass the JUPEB exam but fall short of the requirement for their preferred course will be considered for other available courses.
