Why past questions matter more than notes alone
Reading your notes tells you the content. Past questions tell you how the exam will actually test that content. There is a difference between knowing that digoxin requires an apical pulse check and being able to pick the correct answer in three seconds when four options are in front of you and the clock is running. That speed and accuracy only comes from having answered similar questions before, not from reading about them.
The other thing past questions do is show you which topics are tested repeatedly across multiple sittings. Once you see the same pattern appear in the 2019, 2022, and 2025 question banks, you know exactly where to focus your final revision hours.
How to access the past questions

If you are not sure which subject to start with, begin with Pharmacology or Medical-Surgical Nursing — those two subjects sit in the same paper and together represent a significant portion of your Batch 1 score.
If Anatomy and Physiology is your weaker area, the cardiovascular system is the best starting point within that subject, as it carries more questions than any other system in the Paper I question bank.
One thing to keep in mind
Downloading a PDF is not the same as practicing. If you find past questions in a PDF somewhere, use them — but also get the CBT format practice in before your exam. The NMCN CBT tests how fast you can reason under exam conditions, not just whether you can recognize the right answer when you are relaxed with a document open in front of you.
