Welcome to FreshNote, your campus journey companion. We just want to gist this exciting news. God had finally answered some people's prayers concerning Nigerian universities still offering outdated courses and ignoring the hot market trends. See, some courses in Nigerian universities are not worth studying because employers are no more demanding for them and things has changed drastically.
What is the Good news?
The good news is that the National Universities Commission (NUC) has key into the hot job opportunities to train students to catch up by approving 13 new degree programmes that will start in Nigerian universities from the 2026/2027 session. But before any school can admit students in to it, they must pass resource assessments first. NUC wants to be sure the universities actually have what they need. I believe UNIUYO, UNILAG, ATBU, UNIBEN and other top universities to cover these course from 2026.
That is to say, it will take some schools a while to offer some of the newly courses because it involves building new facilities for the course to be effectively carried out. Some courses like BSC Artificial intelligence is not a program that will be base on theory, countless practical has to be done. However, FreshNote will be on the lookout for schools that offer those courses asap and this post will be updated. Got it? Join our channel to stay updated.
These new courses are meant to match what's happening globally and give graduates skills that employers are looking for.
