Good news to all JUPEB students of the University of Uyo! The long-awaited placement list is finally out. Few hours ago, some students confirmed that their caps have changed, and later this afternoon, the joy came fully. The School of Basic Studies (SBS) has officially released the list, and this simply means you’ve been given admission — whether your JAMB CAPS has changed or not.
According to reliable updates from the campus, the management has started placing successful JUPEB candidates into their various departments based on their total points and the number of available slots.
However, there’s a little sad part for those who aimed for Law — only nine (9) students made it into the Faculty of Law this year, and all of them scored 16 points.
For others who didn’t meet up with the required cut-off for their chosen course, there’s still hope. The school has made recommendations for you. You’re advised to visit the School of Basic Studies, Uniuyo, and check the notice board to know the course recommended for you. In most cases, the management recommends a closely related course within the same faculty to avoid losing your admission.
From what’s gathered, candidates who fail to change from their original course to the one recommended by the school might not be placed at all. So, if you fall in this category, don’t wait — rush to the school and confirm your new placement details immediately.

Allegedly, after all changes are done, the final placement approval will reflect on JAMB CAPS — so if your status hasn’t changed yet, don’t panic.
What To Do Next
If your JAMB portal is not yet showing “Admission in Progress,” here’s what you should do:
- Make sure your NIPED status is verified.
- Visit the school notice board and confirm the course recommended for you.
- Implement the school’s recommendation — once done, your JAMB CAPS will update automatically.

If you haven’t seen your name or the school recommendation list yet, here’s a clue: candidates who scored close to the required points are recommended to a course similar to or close to their aspiration. Example in art,
- Law students with 15 points are being recommended for Political Science.
- Those with 14 points are being recommended for History.
- Other courses have similar reassignments based on total points and faculty spaces.
finally, candidates are expected to resume school fully in their respective course center/campus: Main campus, Town Campus, or Annex. This will take effect immediately after the ongoing ASUU strike, which we believe to end anytime soon.
