Below is a chronological list of major events in Church History between 1472 and 1827 as contain in CRS 003 manual.

Chronological order of major events in church history and their timeline.
1. 1472 – Portuguese missionaries first arrived at Benin.
2. 1772 – Slave trade abolished in England by Justice Mansfield.
3. 1787 – Sierra Leone was established as home of freed slaves by Granville Sharp and Henry Semand.
4. 1792 – Baptist Missionary Society was established by evangelical revival/the protestant christian movement.
5. 1799 – Church Missionary Society (CMS) was established (Anglican) by
evangelical revival/the protestant christian movement.
6. 1813 – Wesleyan Missionary Society was established. evangelical revival/the protestant christian movement.
7. 1827 – Fourah Bay College established by CMS (Anglican) in Sierra Leone via the effort of the Freed slaves (Nova Scotians)
8. 1841 – First Niger Expedition led by Thomas Buxton.
9. 1842 – Methodist Missionary Society arrived in Yoruba land by Thomas Birch Freeman.
10. 1846 – Anglican Missionary Society (CMS) arrived in Yoruba land by Henry Townsend.
11. 1854 – a. Baptist Missionary Society arrived in Yoruba land by Thomas Bowen.
b. Second Niger Expedition by William Baikie.
12. 1857 – Third Niger Expedition led by William Baikie. The same year, CMS was established in in onitsha by S. A Crowther and J. C. Taylor
13. 1862 – Catholic Missionaries arrived in Yoruba land land (Lagos) by Fr. Borghero
14. 1864 – Samuel Ajayi Crowther ordained as the first African Bishop by Henry Venn.
15. 1885 – Holy Ghost Fathers (Fr. Lutz and Shanahan) arrived in Onitsha.
16. 1890 – Dandeson Crowther established the Niger Delta Pastorate Church (CMS as Africa independent Church)
17. 1891 – Samuel Ajayi Crowther died.
18. 1827 – Fourah Bay College established by CMS (Anglican) in Sierra Leone.
19. 1889- The puritans party (CMS under CMS) made attempt to Christianize the northern part of Nigeria.
20. 1900- The Long Juju of Arochukwu was abolished in by the British colonial forces. The Long Juju was a powerful traditional oracle used by the Aro Confederacy in present-day Abia State, Nigeria.
