Gaseous exchange is the process by which respiratory gases (oxygen and carbon dioxide) diffuse between an organism and its environment, enabling oxygen to enter cells for respiration and carbon dioxide to be removed.

(b) What is respiratory surface? [1 mark]


A respiratory surface is a thin, moist area across which gases are exchanged between the organism’s internal environment and the external environment.
